Memorizing Qur’an & Duas with Toddlers

Assalamu’alaikum and hello!

One night during our bedtime routine while I was saying the du’a (supplication) before sleeping with Little Duck, she repeated a couple of the words along with me.  It dawned on me that she was ready and capable of memorizing.  I asked her to repeat it word by word after me every night.  A couple of nights later, she had the du’a memorized in its entirety (albeit – it is a short one), Masha’Allah.  Her milestones always amaze me and are a reminder of the beauty of creation, Subhanallah.   Continue reading

Welcome!

This isn’t a new blog but a fresh start.  I wanted to keep this blog name as it describes me perfectly.  I am a chai-addict.  I have to have my cup of tea every single day and usually twice a day.  Ideally, it’s when my daughter is taking her naps, my favorite part of the day, that I get to catch up on my thoughts, do whatever I like, and sip my chai peacefully.  And it will be most likely the time I get to blog – aaand most likely about her!

I am a new-ish mom.  Baby L is twelve months old, Masha’Allah.  I wanted to join the Club of Motherhood ever since I got married, though I appreciate now the wisdom behind waiting – just don’t tell my husband.  Truthfully, I have never felt so complete in my life as I do now.

What is the purpose of my blog?  I want this to be a place where I can share my experiences as a homemaker and specifically as a mother.  I am a teacher by profession, though I do not teach anymore, I wholeheartedly believe that a mother is the child’s first teacher.  And I take this role very seriously.  To state the obvious, the role parents play in shaping their children’s future is invaluable.

I am learning as I go, and I want this to be a place where I can share my success and my failure.  I want it to be a place where I can exchange ideas with a wider community of moms/parents.  I also hope that I can provide other moms out there with advice and tips.

Follow my journey as a new mom by subscribing and say hello in the comments section!
